What We Will Not Do

When you visit our Site or register with us:

Information Collected About You

We may collect “Personal Information” about you – such as your name, address, telephone number, email address or health information – in the following ways:

  • When you register for or update an existing profile on our web sites or Apps or register for The PcMed Project ;

What Choices Do I Have?

GDPR Compliance

PcMed Project and its technical infrastructure are located in the United States. The personal information that you provide to us is stored on servers located in the United States. If you are located in another jurisdiction, you should be aware that in order to provide the PcMed Project Web Sites to you, we must transfer your personal information to the United States where it will be stored and processed in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We may transfer your information outside the United States to service providers with operations in other countries. By using the PcMed Project Web Sites, you consent to such collection, storage and processing in the United States and elsewhere, though the United States and other jurisdictions may not afford the same level of data protection as considered adequate in your own country. We will take reasonable steps to protect your personal information. Note that your personal information may be available to the United States government or its agencies under legal process made in the United States.

Additional Information for PcMedProject’s Visitors from the European Economic Area (“EEA”)

When you use the PcMed Project Web Sites, we collect, store, use and otherwise process your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. We rely on a number of legal bases to process your information, including where: (i) necessary for our legitimate interests in providing and improving the PcMed Project Web Sites including offering you content and advertising that may be of interest to you; (ii) necessary for our legitimate interest in keeping the PcMed Project Web Sites safe and secure; (iii) necessary for the legitimate interests of our service providers and partners; (iv) necessary to perform our contractual obligations in the PcMed Project Terms of Use; (v) you have consented to the processing, which you can revoke at any time (however a revocation does not affect the lawfulness of processing of your personal data that occurred prior to the date of revocation); (vi) you have expressly made the information public, e.g., in a PcMed Project message board or other public forums; (vii) necessary to comply with a legal obligation such as a law, regulation, search warrant, subpoena or court order or to exercise or defend legal claims; and (viii) necessary to protect your vital interests, or those of others.

If you are a PcMed Project user in the EEA, you can: (i) access personal information we have about you (we will try to provide information within 30 days of your request); (ii) have your personal information corrected or deleted (in most cases you can correct personal information you have submitted to us by going back to the specific PcMed Project Website, logging-in and making the desired change); (iii) in certain circumstances, you can object to our processing of your personal information and we will discontinue such processing unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue; (iv) withdraw consent previously provided (however a withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing of your personal data that occurred prior to the date of withdrawal); or (v) if you believe that we have not complied with applicable data protection laws, you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. If you wish to inquire as to whether we maintain any of your personal information and if so, whether you wish to exercise any of those rights that are available to you with respect to such personal information, you may contact us as described in the Contacting PcMed Project About Your Personal Information or Privacy section below. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.

Where we process your personal information for direct marketing purposes, you can opt-out through the unsubscribe link in the email communications we send to you, by changing your subscription preferences in your account settings or as otherwise specified in this Privacy Policy.

We will retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the PcMed Project Web Sites to you and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. This is also the case for third parties within whom we share your information to perform PcMed Project Web Sites on our behalf. When we no longer need to use your personal information and there is no need for us to keep it to comply with our legal or regulatory obligations, we will either remove it from our systems or anonymize it. If you have registered with PcMed Project and you no longer want us to use your registration information to provide the PcMed Project Web Sites to you, you may close your account.


 

The PcMed Project Privacy Policy

The PcMed Project understands how important the privacy of personal information is to our users. This Privacy Policy will tell you what information we collect about you and about your use of The PcMed Project and its services. It will explain the choices you have about how your personal information is used and how we protect that information. We urge you to read this Privacy Policy carefully.

This Privacy Policy applies to Web sites owned and operated by The PcMed Project that are intended for use by health professionals our Mobile Device Applications or “Apps” (we refer to these sites and Apps collectively as the “PcMed Project Web Sites”). Except where noted, statements in this Privacy Policy with respect to The PcMed Project Web Sites also apply to The PcMed Project Mobile Device Applications (or “Apps”) for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

References to “The PcMed Project” mean The PcMed Project including any company that The PcMed Project controls (for example, a subsidiary that The PcMed Project owns). The PcMed Project may share information among its subsidiaries or web sites that it owns or controls, but information collected under this Privacy Policy is always protected under the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Information Collected About You

Personal Information

If you choose to register or update an existing member profile with The PcMed Project or access certain functionality on The PcMed Project Web Sites, you may be required to submit Personal Information. “Personal Information” means information that we can use to identify or contact you, such as your name, address, telephone number or email address. Some of our interactive tools and services may request you to submit health information, which would also be considered Personal Information. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the Personal Information that you submit to The PcMed Project . Inaccurate information will affect your experience when using The PcMed Project Web Sites and tools and our ability to contact you as described in this Privacy Policy.

Registration

Access to some The PcMed Project interactive tools and services may be limited to users who have registered. Some of our tools (such as certain quizzes or calculators) do not retain your Personal Information, while others store your Personal Information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. See also the Section below on Mobile Device Applications. You may also be asked to provide authorization for uses of personal information in addition to what is in this Privacy Policy when you use certain tools, such as providing personal information to a sponsor of the tool. The PcMed Project will not make any use of your personal information beyond the permitted uses in this Privacy Policy unless you provide such additional consent in connection with the specific tool at the time you submit Personal Information in order to use the tool. Furthermore, The PcMed Project does not use any information that you submit in connection with that tool to deliver any advertisements to you on or off of The PcMed Project Web Sites.

If you download The PcMed Project App and agree to provide your information to The PcMed Project, your information will be treated like that of a registered user under this Privacy Policy.

Newsletters & Emails to You

At registration and at various times as you use The PcMed Project Web Sites, you will be given the option of providing us with Personal Information in order to receive recurring informational/promotional newsletters –via email from The PcMed Project. From time to time, The PcMed Project makes subscriptions to our newsletters available on third party websites. If you sign up for one of our newsletters on a third party site the site will provide us with your Personal Information such as your email address and we may use that information as described in this Privacy Policy as though you had provided it directly to The PcMed Project .

When you sign up for our email newsletters on The PcMed Project Web Sites or at any time, you can choose to opt out of receiving additional promotional newsletters from The PcMed Project.

You can unsubscribe from a newsletter by:

  • Following the directions included at the bottom of the newsletter.

  • Logging in to The PcMed Project Web Sites and unchecking the newsletters you no longer wish to receive under the “My Profile” section.

Market Research

From time to time, The PcMed Project may conduct online research surveys through email invitations, pop-up surveys and online focus groups. When participating in a survey, we may ask you to enter Personal Information. The Personal Information you submit in a survey may be used by The PcMed Project for research and measurement purposes, as described below, including measuring the effectiveness of content, advertising or programs. When our market research surveys collect Personal Information we will not knowingly accept participants who are under the age of 13. Market research surveys conducted by or on behalf of The PcMed Project will contain a link to this Privacy Policy.

Emails You Send to The PcMed Project

This Privacy Policy does not apply to information, content, business information, ideas, concepts or inventions that you send to The PcMed Project by email. If you want to keep content or business information, ideas, concepts or inventions private or proprietary, do not send them in an email to The PcMed Project.

Non-Personal Information

Even if you do not register with or provide any Personal Information to The PcMed Project, we collect Non-Personal Information about your use of The PcMed Project Web Sites. “Non-Personal Information” means information that we cannot use to identify or contact you. We may also acquire Non-Personal Information about our users from external sources. While you may use some of the functionality of The PcMed Project without registration, many of the specific tools and services on The PcMed Project Web Sites require that you register with The PcMed Project.

Cookies and Web Beacons

We collect Non-Personal Information about your use of The PcMed Project Web Sites and your use of other web sites through the use of Cookies and Web Beacons. “Cookies” are small data files that are stored on the hard drive of the computer you use to view a web site. Every computer that accesses The PcMed Project Web Sites is assigned a different Cookie by The PcMed Project . “Web Beacons” are graphic image files imbedded in a web page typically used to monitor activity on a web page and send back to its home server (which can belong to the host site, a network advertiser or some other third party) information from your browser, such as the IP address, the URL of the page on which the Web Beacon is located, the type of browser that is accessing the site and the ID number of any Cookies on your computer previously placed by that server.

Third parties under contract with The PcMed Project may use Cookies or Web Beacons to collect Non-Personal Information about your usage of The PcMed Project Web Sites, including which health topics you have viewed. These third party advertising service providers may only use this information to help The PcMed Project determine future content based on additional Non-Personal Information to the extent known by The PcMed Project or these third parties.

Mobile Device Applications (“Apps”) and Mobile Optimized Sites

Some of our Apps, such as require that you be registered and signed in in order to use them. Some of our Apps, such as The PcMed Project App, allow you to use many features without being registered but require that you are signed in as a registered user in order to use certain features, the information that we collect through your use of these Apps and tools will be treated as Personal Information under this Privacy Policy.

Therefore, if you do not want to be Cookied when you use your mobile device you should not use our Mobile Device Apps and you should set your mobile device to reject Cookies when you use our mobile optimized sites.

Our use of Cookies and Web Beacons on our mobile optimized sites are similar to our use on our desktop sites. Your choices to reject Cookies, use the Network Advertising Initiative and the TRUSTed Ads™ program, described below in the section “What Choices Do I Have” are available on our mobile optimized sites. If you have questions about how to reject Cookies on your specific device please check with the device manufacturer.

Updating/Removing Your Personal Information

If you do not want your Personal Information used by The PcMed Project as provided in this Privacy Policy, you should not register as a member or for any specific tool or application that collects Personal Information. You can correct, update or review Personal Information you have previously submitted by going back to the specific tool or application, logging-in and making the desired change. You can also update any Personal Information you have submitted by contacting us using the contact information listed below.

If you have registered and desire to delete any of your Personal Information you have provided to us from our systems please contact us using the contact information listed below. Upon your request, we will delete your Personal Information from our active databases and where feasible from our back-up media. You should be aware that it is not technologically possible to remove each and every record of the information you have provided to The PcMed Project Web Sites from our servers.

Cookies

Most browser software can be set to reject Cookies. Most browsers offer instructions on how to reset the browser to reject Cookies in the “Help” section of the toolbar. If you reject our Cookies, certain of the functions and conveniences of The PcMed Project Web Sites may not work properly but you do not have to accept our Cookies in order to productively use The PcMed Project Web Sites. It is important to note that in order to use the opt-out services described below, such as the Network Advertising Initiative and the TRUSTed Ads™ program, you must not reject all Cookies because these opt-out procedures work by placing Cookies on your browser that enable these opt-out procedures to function. Disclosures to The PcMed Project Contractors

PcMed Project contractors sometimes have limited access to your Personal and Non-Personal Information in the course of providing products or services to The PcMed Project . These contractors include vendors and suppliers that provide us with technology, services, data analysis, research, advertising and marketing assistance and/or content in connection with our operation and maintenance of The PcMed Project Web Sites. The PcMed Project does not endorse and is not responsible for the privacy practices of these Third Party Web Sites. How Do We Secure and Retain Your Information?

We take reasonable security measures to protect the security of your Personal Information. Despite The PcMed Project’s efforts to protect your Personal Information, there is always some risk that an unauthorized third party may find a way around our security systems or that transmissions of your information over the Internet may be intercepted.

The security of your Personal Information is important to us. When you enter Personal Information (including personal health information in various tools on our website), we encrypt the transmission of that information or use SSL connections (Secure Socket Layer) technology.

We will retain your Personal Information as long as your account is active or needed to provide you services. At any time you can remove your Personal Information or instruct us to remove it, but you should be aware that it is not technologically possible to remove each and every record of the information you have provided to The PcMed Project from our servers. The PcMed Project tools that collect and store Personal Information allow you to correct, update or review information you have submitted by going back to the specific tool, logging-in and making the desired changes. We will also retain your Personal Information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

Children

We are committed to protecting the privacy of children. The PcMed Project Web Sites are not designed or intended to attract children under the age of 13. The PcMed Project Web Sites do not collect Personal Information from any person we actually know is under the age of 13.
