SGLT2i
Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors lower blood sugar by targeting SGLT2 channels in the kidney’s proximal convoluted tubules, preventing the reabsorption of glucose. These include canagliflozin, dapagliflozin, empagliflozin, ertugliflozin, and bexagliflozin. These agents can be used to treat T2D, but also have been approved for heart failure, preserving renal function, and lowering cardiovascular mortality in patients with or without diabetes
