Thiazide-type diuretics
Medications that inhibit sodium reabsorption in the kidney, thus promoting excretion of both sodium and water, and reducing intravascular volume. Approved for management of HTN and peripheral edema. Includes hydrochlorothiazide, chlorothiazide and methyclothiazide. Distinct from thiazide-like diuretics: indapamide, metolazone, and chlorthalidone
