Live attenuated vaccines
Live attenuated vaccines are produced by modifying a disease-production (“wild”) virus or bacterium in a lab. The vaccine organism can still replicate (grow) and produce immunity, but usually does not cause illness. The majority of the live attenuated vaccines in the US contain live viruses.
