Nuchal fold
Nuchal fold or thickness is a measurement that is performed on prenatal ultrasound in the second trimester. It refers to the distance from the outer edge of the occipital bone to the outer edge of the skin. Increased nuchal fold thickness is associated with Down syndrome, although chromosomal studies will be normal in most patients.
