STD
Sexually transmitted Disease. Diseases or infections that can be spread by direct sexual contact. Sexually transmitted infection, or STI, is sometimes used interchangeably with STD. However, the use of STI is helpful as a reminder that often, people can carry a sexually transmitted ‘infection’ but be asymptomatic. STD denotes ‘disease’ or symptomatology.
