ACTA2
Actin, Alpha-2, Smooth Muscle, Aorta – a gene that encodes for smooth muscle aortic alpha-actin and is one of 6 different action ISO forms; well conserved in evolution. In order to regulate blood flow and pressure, smooth muscle cells require cyclic interactions between alpha-actin (encoded by ACTA2) and the beta-myosin heavy chain (encoded by MYH11).
